Compensation Range: $185-225k 

Compensation will be dependent upon geographic region, education, and experience


Job Description

The VP, Revenue Cycle is the executive responsible for management of the Revenue Cycle organization and process to ensure the timely and accurate billing of services provided and maximizing collections on all billings. The VP, Revenue Cycle partners with finance and operations and provides recommendations and information to help manage the business. This position provides leadership, management and direction to the revenue cycle function, this includes recommendations, development and updating strategic long-range plans to support the organization's Vision and goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively with the Operations team to improve front office and RCM operations.
  • Partner with finance and operations teams to evaluate collection capabilities and adherence to payer contracts.
  • Assesses and responds to current and future internal and external healthcare trends in order to establish and ensure the necessary direction for the revenue cycle activities.
  • Oversees all Revenue Cycle functions to assure proper handling and directs billing activities to ensure timely billing and reimbursement
  • Facilitates development of departmental mission, goals, policies, procedures, budget, and work standards for Revenue Cycle departments. Also Reviews departments' performance and ensures compliance, accreditation, legal and other regulatory requirements. Analyzes and assesses productivity of staff in regard to maintenance of high standards of quality patient care
  • Responsible for leadership and supervision of Revenue Cycle departments. Will provide assistance in problem solving, staffing and budget issues in regard to their operational needs
  • Develops and implements the strategic vision of the organization’s revenue cycle.  Works with leaders to maximize teamwork and results across the revenue cycle.
  • Manages individual(s) including, but not limited to, hiring, training, work assignments, manages and evaluates performance, and conducts professional development plans.  Ensures that the productivity and actions of the managed group meet and support the operational goals of Revenue Cycle Management.  
  • Continually improves processes, implements industry best practices, and improves outcomes by implementing innovations and using lean methodology.
  • Develops processes to timely bill and adjudicate claims that supports maintaining a benchmark cash goal level.
  • Develop and monitor department budget and ensure budgetary goals are met.  Ensure the efficiency of operations and the cost to collect.
  • Develops denial management processes to eliminate denial root causes and reduce the denial impact on the organization.   
  • Collaborates with revenue cycle leaders as well as clinical department leaders to maximize revenue and key performance indicators.   
  • Reviews metrics, compares to best practices, sets goals, and uses data to drive revenue cycle operational improvements.   

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management or Business Administration, Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience or experience working in a healthcare organization
  • Leader with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead others to change their behavior and effectively work with all levels of the organization.
  • Revenue cycle operations knowledge
  • Knowledge of behavior health and physician practice industry key performance indicators strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of current behavioral health industry trends, regulations, and policies strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Must be able to assess situations, identify issues/problems and prioritize duties
  • Experience in revenue cycle review and analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications required
  • Strong working knowledge of Medics Premier or like RCM systems, Change Healthcare, and Oracle applications preferred
