Job description
New Hope Ranch is a residential treatment center focusing on prevention, assessment, treatment, and reintegration for people suffering from substance abuse. Services are provided on our beautiful 49-acre ranch just 15 minutes from downtown Austin Texas

Compensation Range: $16-18 hourly
Compensation will be dependent upon geographic region, education, and experience

This position is supervised by the Director of Nursing, however on a day to day basis, the nursing assistant may be given direction by the RN/LPN on duty. Medical Assistants are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties which, by design and intent, assists nursing staff accomplish a variety of patient related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Performs administrative duties such as welcoming patients and visitors, answering department phones, assisting with discharge or transfer procedures.
- Responsible for taking patient history and preparing patient for examination.
- Assisting the physician during examinations.
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens.
- Transmitting prescription refills as directed by physician.
- Responding to patient call bells timely.
- Administering medications as directed by physician.
- Instructing patients about medications and special diet needs.
- Ensuring all documentation is timely and according to established protocols.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
This is a full time position that will work evening/ night shift.

- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Must have experience dispensing and administering oral and injection medications
- Certified as a Medical Assistant preferred.
- Previous experienced in substance abuse disorder preferred.
- Basic Life Support/CPR is required.
- Demonstrates an ability to interact professionally with adult patients and their families.
- Presents with a recognition of and ability to function within a team concept.
- Possesses skills necessary to accurately take and document vital signs.
- Demonstrates ability to integrate disease concept education.
- Displays good listening and observation skills.
- Demonstrates sufficient communication skills to ensure effective verbal and written reporting.
