Job description
New Hope Ranch is a residential treatment center focusing on prevention, assessment, treatment, and reintegration for people suffering from substance abuse. Services are provided on our beautiful 49-acre ranch just 15 minutes from downtown Austin Texas

Compensation Range: $16-20 per hour

A Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for assisting and supporting patients through the entire treatment experience from admission to discharge. BHT responsibilities primarily include ensuring patient safety, providing milieu interventions, and supporting patients as they navigate the treatment process. As the Tech team is available to the patient on a twenty-four-hour basis, careful patient monitoring and communication with the treatment team is essential.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates patient daily needs per the program schedule.
- Assists Nursing staff with duties as directed, for example: patient supervision, vitals, room searches, patient searches, etc.
- Recognizes, responds to, and assists in crisis situations and provides interventions as necessary.
- Consistently reports to work on time and prepared to perform the duties of the position.
- Delivers indirect and selected direct patient care as directed by facility leadership.
- Conducts intake processes, searches of belongings and patients and completes BAC’s and drug screen observations as directed by facility leadership.
- Monitors patient activity and documents any significant patient issues.
- Records rounds and ensures patient safety as specified.
- Conducts regular facility and grounds checks, advising facility leadership of any irregularities or safety concerns.
- Notifies and reports any health and safety issues, significant patient concerns and any out of the ordinary occurrences to facility leadership immediately.
- Completes all documentation requirements prior to the end of the shift.
- Performs basic housekeeping duties.
- Facilitates and leads daily groups as directed by facility leadership if applicable.
- Attends all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
- Completes all online training, policy verification, and ensures that their employee HR file is kept up to date.
- Monitors and oversees the self-administration of patient medication if applicable.
- Provides transportation services including patient transportation/supervision, errands, shopping, admits, outings, etc. (must be pre-qualified to drive a company vehicle).
This is a full-time position. The following shifts are available:
- Wednesday 1am - 7am, Thursday - Saturday 7pm - 7am
- Sunday - Tuesday 7pm - 7am, Wednesday 7pm - 1am

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid and unrestricted required State Driver’s License if applicable
- Minimum of 1 year sobriety if in recovery
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to document within an electronic system.
- First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire and required recertification annually thereafter.
- De-escalation/restraint technique certification within 90 days of hire and recertification yearly thereafter.
- Medication training within 30 days of hire if applicable.
